Prayer Vigils for Ukraine - Sunday 27th March, 6pm

It is now just over a month since Russia began its hostile invasion of Ukraine during which time thousands of lives have been lost and millions of people have been displaced.

The Churches and church organisations in Weston are responding both with humanitarian gestures but also by mobilising prayer. All of the local churches are praying for peace at their services and would welcome anyone to join them.

United Vigils

The churches along with people from across the community are also gathering together each Sunday night as an act of solidarity with the Ukrainian people, to light candles, to reflect and to pray for the situation. We are meeting at two venues.

This Sunday 27th March, at 6pm, vigils are taking place at St Paul's Church, Walliscote Road and Milton Methodist Church.

Rev Craig Philbrick of St Paul's Church, Weston, said 'People are hurting, people are feeling helpless at this time. Amidst the suffering and uncertainties, we invite anyone to join us as we seek and find strength and hope through our united prayers and reflections.'

Revd Angela Hoare of Milton Methodist Church said, 'Anyone is welcome to join with us as in music, prayer, and times for reflection, we come before God to remember and pray for all those affected by the war in Ukraine. We will use a liturgy from Iona and light candles as we ask God to keep the light of hope burning for those still in Ukraine, for the refugees and for world leaders.'

For more info, see the full schedule at https://ctwd.org.uk, which we hope will be cut short as soon as the conflict ends.
