As Lent begins, Christians around the world pause to reflect, pray, and turn their hearts afresh towards God. This year, Love Weston and Churches Together in Weston & District warmly invite the community to a simple but meaningful Ash Wednesday Service in the town centre.
Ash Wednesday marks the start of the 40-day journey towards Easter. During the service, a small cross of ash is gently traced on the forehead as a sign of humility, repentance, and our shared need for God’s grace. It is a centuries-old Christian practice pointing to renewal and the hope found in Christ.
The Bible expresses the heart of this day beautifully: “Return to me with all your heart, with fasting and weeping and mourning” (Joel 2:12). These words remind us that God’s invitation is always to come back to Him and receive mercy.
This short 30-minute service is open to everyone - regular churchgoers, those exploring faith, or anyone who would value a moment of stillness in a busy day.
The service will be led by Rev Craig Philbrick at 12 Noon on Wednesday 18th February 2026 at the Italian Gardens / High Street in Weston-super-Mare town centre. All are welcome to stop by and share in this quiet act of reflection, worship and witness.
