“Legacy of Light” Saturday 10th November

We invite local people to participate in a unique, simple and poignant event to take place, as part of the World War One, “Thank You” commemorations

On Saturday 10th November at 18:00, as a prelude to the next day’s Remembrance Commemorations; at locations, across North Somerset we are hoping Parishes and Towns will join together, in a tribute called “Legacy of Light”

The concept is very simple:

The Legacy of Light Event in Weston-super-Mare will take place on the “stage” in the Town Square next to the Italian Gardens on Saturday 10th November at 18:00. It is an event open to anyone, regardless of culture, creed or religion; who would like to join us to say thank you for the sacrifice paid by those who fell in World War 1

It will start with Weston College Students who will be presenting their thoughts of WW1 through Music, Songs and Dance, followed by a short period of reflection, with poems, stories and readings.

This will culminate in the lighting of 415 tea light candles, each one representing a Serviceman from Weston who lost their life in WW1.

We would like to invite members of the public to join us and if they wish, light candles in memory of Family Members they have lost or indeed to give thanks for those who survived.
