What If? Weston's Young People Are Being Invited to Help Change the Town

You've probably had the thought before. Driving past a group of kids hanging around a bus stop with nothing to do. Hearing about another young person struggling and falling through the cracks. Wondering why nobody's doing more for the young people of Weston-super-Mare.

What if that thought didn't just stay a thought?

That's the question behind the WAY WSM 'What If?' Conversation — a one-off gathering for 18–30 year olds across Weston who want to see real, practical change in the lives of children and young people who are struggling.

This isn't a committee just looking for people to sit in a bunch of meetings. It's the first step towards something hands-on… maybe: mentoring, sports programmes, music studios, hospital-based support, youth-led social action — the kind of stuff that actually gets alongside young people at their lowest points and helps them turn things around.

We know it works, because we've seen it. In 2023, a small group of young people in Swindon asked exactly this question. Three years on, that same conversation has grown into WAY UK — a charity that supported over 670 children and young people last year alone, through mentoring, sports, music studios and hospital-based support, and helped young people go on to lead their own social action projects across the town.

Now it's Weston's turn!

We're looking for 20+ young people (18–30) who want to bring their faith into action — practically, locally, and for the long haul. If you've got ideas but no idea where to start, or you're already doing something in your community and want backup, this is for you.

It's just a couple of hours. No pressure, no long-term commitment yet — just an honest conversation with other young people who care.
